How did you end up writing a song for Beyonce’s successful “I am… Sasha Fierce” album?
My writing partner and mentor, amanda ghost, played beyonce songs from an album of mine that never saw the light of day, ms Knowles picked a song she liked called disappear and sung it.

Despite feeling an improvement in his skills, the breaks weren't coming; until one day, bags packed, the aforementioned Amanda Ghost called him to say Beyoncé wanted a song (Disappear, which appeared on the international smash I AM… SASHA FIERCE) "It was unreal" he beams, "There's not one thing you can say about her, she's the real article and has been for some time."
A new creative energy drove Hugo to his next major chapter, working with Jay-Z's Roc Nation, an opportunity that he credits as coming "pretty much directly as a result of Beyonce picking that song".

He explains that his career has not been plain sailing. “I’ve been signed, dropped, resigned,” he says smiling, acknowledging it’s not an easy business to work in. He’s still signed to Roc Nation, currently working on a solo album. “I’m easing myself in,” he says about making it, finding the right songs, “you live life and it creeps in, eventually it comes in. I was sent to LA. Made a record. Then I got dropped by the label. Beyonce heard a song that was rejected and then she sang the song,” he says, adding that this was a break for him. “I was shocked. I guess that’s what they call a lucky break.” In the English language music industry his style has been called ‘Gangsta rock”.
